Image of a woodcut printing block with a stylized cow in a field of flowers with a bird and clouds in the sky behind it

Compartment 13

This woodblock was created by my dad, Michael, the eldest son of Henry and Judy. I could easily find out more about it, but I haven’t asked yet.

I chose to include it because I found it in the basement of 37GGE, sitting next to the film reels I was looking for, to play on the projector I fixed up, which I also found in the basement of 37GGE. There were a few other blocks, a mini-archive of my dad’s early foray into printmaking. This one stood out to me – I thought it was quite cute. There’s something a bit Klee-esque about the roundness of the cow, the birds in the background, the flowers, and the childish clouds.
