This jug of mysterious clear liquid sat in my grandparents’ basement for decades. I would imagine it was repurposed and filled with whatever is in it by my grandfather, Henry. I can’t imagine my grandmother Judy doing anything with this jug.

It may contain turpentine or it may contain moonshine (very unlikely though it would be fun), or perhaps it’s just water (though I’m not sure why anyone would keep a jug of water in the basement). Perhaps, it’s something more unusual or dangerous.

I haven’t opened it to check. I think it’s probably turpentine. The jug is pretty nice – it used to contain Ocean Spray cranberry juice.

According to my research, Ocean Spray began phasing out their glass jugs in 1994 – so this jug is at least around 30 years old at the time of writing. However, we can only speculate about when it was filled with the mysterious filled liquid.
